In 1934 it was discovered by chance by a farmer from Capestrano while he was working in his field. To date, little is known about this sculpture dating back to the 6th century BC. The more than two meters tall statue is adorned with war elements and has a headdress that is still the subject of mystery today. Recently an engraving on the statue has been deciphered which reads: "ME BEAUTIFUL IMAGE MADE ANINIS FOR KING NEVIO POMPULEDIO".
The warrior can be admired in the National Archaeological Museum of Abruzzo in Chieti.
Nel 1934 venne casualmente scoperto da un contadino di Capestrano mentre lavorava nel suo campo. Ad oggi ancora poco si conosce di questa scultura risalente al VI secolo a.C. La statua alta oltre due metri è ornata di elementi bellici e presenta un copricapo che ancor oggi è oggetto di mistero. Recentemente è stata decifrata un'incisione sulla statua che recita: "ME BELLA IMMAGINE FECE ANINIS PER IL RE NEVIO POMPULEDIO".
Il guerriero può essere ammirato nel Museo Archeologico Nazionale d'Abruzzo a Chieti.
